10 Things About Emily

I know people have done similar posts on Facebook with random things about themselves, so I thought I'd post one here so you can get to know me better.

In no particular order of importance...

1. I hate eating leftovers
- I don't know why it bothers me so much but I really have never been a fan. This drives my mother nuts, as she is the queen of leftovers. I even tease her that we had leftovers so much growing up, I don't remember the original meal they came from!

2. I love sleep
- This is one of my favorite things to do on days off or on weekends. Now don't get me wrong, I am not lazy, I just enjoy relaxing - especially in my new king size bed!!!

3. I love vacuuming
- Ok, I know it sounds weird, but this is my FAVORITE household chore. I don't know what it is about it that's so relaxing to me but it's the one thing I look forward to doing when cleaning the house. I think it's because it really makes the house look "finished" and clean when I am done with it.

4. I am obsessed with Iced Tea
- Ever since I was about 22 I have fallen in love with UNSWEETENED iced tea. My favorite kind is from McDonald's and I was in 7th heaven when they started selling it for only $1.00. In college I went thru Mc D's so much my roommate bought me an iced tea brewer for my birthday!

5. I have a huge fear of birds and bats
- I probably get this trait from my mother because she also has the same fear. It creeps me out to have a bird fly near me with its flapping wings. I even refuse to take our dog outside at night in the summer because of the swooping bats in our backyard. Give me spiders or snakes any day....

6. I can't stand the sound of teeth scraping on silverware
- OK this is a big "nails on chalkboard" sensation for me. My husband does this all the time (partially because he knows it bugs me, I think) and it literally makes me shiver! I don't get how people can let the utensil touch their teeth without wanting to gag. Yuck.

7. I'm a crier
- Even the most mundane things that other people probably don't even take notice of make me cry. I am a mess during emotional moments in life and can't even imagine how much worse it will be when I have kids.

8. I think I may have a mild moderate form of O.C.D.
- For those of you that know me, you know how I get with symmetry and things in order and lined up. My roommates in college used to think it was funny to tilt pictures on the wall a tad or move candles or other decor out of the order I had set it in to see how long it took me to move it back. Yeah, not gonna lie, couldn't last a minute.

9. I don't like being home overnight by myself
- Call me paranoid, but this freaks me out! Luckily my husband doesn't have a job where he has to be away a lot but the few times he has, I've had my mom or sister in law come stay here. Oh jeez, when am I gonna grow up??

10. Laundry is my LEAST favorite chore
- I can't believe how much laundry 2 people can accumulate. I do not even want to think about how bad it will be when we have kids....ugh. I think the part I hate the most is folding and putting it away. Our next house (which I want to build) will have laundry on the upper level near the bedrooms for sure!

Haircut

So all my life I have pretty much had the same haircut - at least shoulder length with varying degrees of layers in it. I have finally decided (much to the dismay of my husband) to cut my hair short. I am thinking of going with a stacked bob. Below are some styles I am considering...

Wednesday's the big day....so we shall see what I return with!

Bigger Than T Rex

We took our 5 yr old nephew to the Midland Center for the Arts Dinosaur exhibit last weekend. We sure learned a lot about these huge creatures!

My 4-legged friend...

Kylie is the (2nd) love of my life! She is a German Shepherd/Rottweiler mix that we adopted from the pound in 2008. She's totally crazy and goofy and thinks she is 10 lbs, instead of the 60 lbs that she is. Although she can drive me crazy with her incessant barking at the neighbors, her sloppy drinking that leaves the floor soaking wet, and her hair that seems to find a way onto every surface in my house, I wouldn't trade her for anything!

Allow me to introduce myself....

I am not really sure why I decided to start this blog, but I have enjoyed reading other people's over the past few months and thought maybe, just maybe, someone out there would want to read mine! I have to warn you, my life is not that exciting, but it's mine and I love it all the same.

I guess I should tell you a little about myself (and my husband)! We have been together for 5 years and married for 5 months of those 5 years! We met through some mutual friends and started dating casually. I wasn't in rush to be in a relationship (to this day he thinks I was smitten with him from the moment I laid eyes on him), but it wasn't long before we were inseparable. I never thought he'd pop the question but FINALLY on June 7, 2009 we became engaged!

We have been blessed with a beautiful home, great jobs, a lovely puppy and the BEST families!
